Germany Ignored Trump’s Warnings–Now They Are Regretting It

Those who respect and admire Donald Trump might not understand why people around the world, including leaders, so quickly reject his advice. Trump was a proven businessman who baffled competitors time and again. And he defied the liberal establishment to win the presidency, when few on the left thought he could. And under his leadership, America was the dominant force in energy and numerous other areas.

Yet when Trump went to Germany in 2018—and warned them not to send Russia billions of dollars for fuel—they not only ignored him, but mocked him.

Guess what? Trump was right and Germany is screwed.

Former President Donald Trump warned Germany in 2018 about relying on Russian oil and was laughed at by the German delegation. Four years later, Trump was proven right as Germany fears a massive gas shortage…

“Reliance on a single foreign supplier can leave a nation vulnerable to extortion and intimidation. That is why we congratulate European states, such as Poland, for leading the construction of a Baltic pipeline so that nations are not dependent on Russia to meet their energy needs,” Trump said. “Germany will become totally dependent on Russian energy if it does not immediately change course.”

The camera then panned to the German delegation. Many members appeared to be laughing…

“Germany is totally controlled by Russia because they will be getting 60-70% of their energy from Russia and a new pipeline, and you tell me if that’s appropriate, and I think it’s not,” Trump continued.

Russia is set to temporarily shut down the Nord Stream 1 pipeline for maintenance. Some fear the shutdown could be permanent, according to CNBC. Four years ago, President Trump stood before Germany and the rest of the world and told them in no uncertain terms, “Do not make a deal with Russia.” But the German delegation laughed at him. Probably because they were getting perks from this deal and didn’t care about the consequences.

World leaders have often mocked or rejected Trump’s insight, not because they think he’s wrong. But because, unlike him, they have zero interest in putting the needs of their country first.

Trump was and is an America-first leader. You might expect German leaders (as well as English, French, Italian, and so on) to also put their people and countries first. You’d be wrong. In one of the greatest ironies and crimes of our century, democratic republics with representational leadership are run by crooks and conmen. They sell out their countries at the drop of the hat.

The only leaders who make deals that, in a way, put their country first are those run by dictators. But that’s only because the deals benefit themselves, not their people (see: Russia, Iran, China, Mexico, most South American countries, and so on).

Democratic leaders from America and Europe don’t care about their people. They make deals, like the one between Germany and Russia, to benefit themselves. They aren’t even concerned with the fallout of a bad deal with a corrupt country like Russia. Those German delegates who laughed at Trump? They might not even be in power by now.

They got their kickbacks and are living just fine in Switzerland or some other comfy place. The people of Germany? They get to pay worse energy prices than we do, because they get 60-70% of their oil from Russia, which is going to shut down the pipeline for “maintenance.”

If only people had enough integrity to listen to a man like Trump.
