“All” women will “live in a state where abortion” is limited or outlawed if former president Donald Trump is reelected, according to a recent remark by Hillary Clinton, who was secretary of state.
Of course, this is not true.
On April 8, Trump made his position on abortion clear in a video that he uploaded to Truth Social.
Trump said in his video that abortion is “about the will of the people,” and he urged viewers to listen to their consciences, religious beliefs, or spiritual guides on the matter.
What the states decide—by vote or legislation, or maybe even both—must be the law of the country, in this instance, the law of the state, in my opinion, now that we have abortion where everyone wants it legally. There will be a wide variety of states, each with its own unique format, number of weeks, and level of conservatism. In the end, it all comes down to the desires of the people. Do what makes you happy, which is often based on your religious or spiritual beliefs.
Clinton has repeatedly attempted to assert that Trump will impose limits and prohibitions on abortion if re-elected president, despite Trump disclosing his position on the matter.
Observing Trump’s actions the day following the publication of his film provides insight into his future stance on abortion rights, according to Clinton. “And then he takes pride in the fact that he has enabled the most restrictive abortion restrictions in half a century.”
In June 2022, the abortion debate shifted back to the states when the Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade.
The overturning of Roe v. Wade occurred after Trump had already left office, although he had selected Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh, and Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court during his presidency.
Some states have passed bans on abortions beyond six weeks of gestation, including South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Nine southern states have approved legislation that almost entirely prohibits abortion.
Katie Hobbs, the Democrat governor of Arizona, recently overturned an 1864 statute that had effectively outlawed the procedure.
Regardless, Clinton asserted in an X post—which she accompanied by a map showing which states had restricted or outright prohibited abortions—that “all” women would dwell in a state with such a policy if Trump were to serve a second term as president.
It is concerning that one-third of American women reside in states that have stringent regulations or complete bans on abortion, according to Clinton’s statement. “Everyone here will be fighting against Trump’s reelection.”
