Buttigieg Ignores Gas Crisis to Tout EVs–Ted Cruz Slaps Back

Thanks to the Biden administration, the U.S. faces a serious energy crisis. Bad policy and impending sanctions have resulted in skyrocketing gas prices. With each passing day, gas is increasing by ten cents or more per gallon. Working Americans are suffering, as they are forced to needlessly pay more and more at the pump. Biden promised to “work like the devil” to lower prices. But we knew that was a lie, because he refuses to end policies that have crippled American oil production.

To make matters worse, his inept staff show they are completely out of touch with regular Americans. They refuse to push Joe to increase oil production. Their excuse for high gas prices? Corporate greed. No, I’m serious. Their solution to millions of Americans suffering? More EV charging stations! That’s not a joke. So, Republican Sen. Ted Cruz fired back.

While gas prices soar around the nation… Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg lauded the nationwide electric vehicle charging network the Biden administration is pushing, saying that Americans from “rural to urban to suburban communities can all benefit from the gas savings of driving an EV.”

Secretary of Transportation Buttigieg continues to ignore the supply chain crises at ports across America to brag about charging stations for cars too expensive for Americans to afford. Ted Cruz fired back, calling Buttigieg and his allies “liberal elites.” It’s exceptionally shocking to see a member of the administration so out of touch with what is really going on in America.

Cruz rightly blasted Pete over this move, pointing out that only rich, liberal elitists think that more charging stations is the solution to the gas crisis. If you didn’t know, fully electric vehicles are far from cheap. Most of them cost tens of thousands more than regular cars. Some are close to $100,000—pricing them out of most Americans’ budget. And that doesn’t factor in how most EVs aren’t ready for long-distance trips or heavy-duty work, the kind of thing gas-burning cars excel at.

But Buttigieg is ignoring the big fat elephant in the room. Electric cars are powerless, unless their electric batteries can be charged. Gee, where is the electricity coming from, Pete? Power plants! Last time I checked, most of those are fueled by oil and natural gas. So, if we don’t find a solution to the rising oil prices, all those EVs are just as burdensome as gas-burning cars.

It’s amazing that these Democrats don’t acknowledge that little fly in the ointment. Even if an American can afford an electric car, they still will have to pay rising oil prices to charge it. The energy has to come from somewhere. And, like good hacks, Democrats think they can kick the can down the road and nobody will notice.

It would be nice if we could all plug our cars in at night and not worry about it. But we’re not there yet. Until we can provide consistent clean fuel from renewable sources, oil is the way to go. Democrats refuse to admit that. And that’s why Americans are outraged.
