West Virginia Restores Religious Freedom in Vaccine Battle

Big win for freedom in West Virginia this week, and it’s about time. The state’s Board of Education is finally allowing religious exemptions for vaccines, after a judge made it clear they were trampling on people’s rights. As a veteran who served to protect the Constitution, I can tell you this is exactly what we fought for—our God-given rights, including the freedom to practice our faith without government interference.

For years, West Virginia was one of the strictest states in the country when it came to vaccines. Kids couldn’t attend public school unless they had a full list of shots—measles, mumps, chickenpox, hepatitis, and more. It didn’t matter if your faith said no. The state didn’t care. They denied every single religious exemption request, forcing parents to choose between their beliefs and their child’s education. That’s not freedom. That’s tyranny, plain and simple.

But thanks to a strong ruling by West Virginia Circuit Judge Michael Froble and a governor with backbone, Patrick Morrisey, that’s changing. The judge said the Board of Education’s policy “substantially burdened” people’s religious rights. In other words, it punished families for their faith. That’s unconstitutional, and the judge laid it out in a 74-page ruling. He pointed out that only 570 people asked for religious exemptions—hardly enough to threaten public health. So what was the real reason for the denial? Control.

Let’s be honest here. The left has used vaccines as a political weapon for years. They pretend it’s all about science, but we know better. It’s about obedience. It’s about pushing their agenda and silencing anyone who dares to question it. During the COVID years, we saw how fast they were willing to throw away our rights. They locked down churches, forced masks on kids, and tried to fire anyone who didn’t get the shot. And now they want to act like it’s crazy to let a parent say “no” to a vaccine on religious grounds?

Not anymore. Under President Trump and strong conservative leadership in states like West Virginia, we’re taking our freedoms back. Governor Morrisey signed an executive order earlier this year saying officials must honor religious exemptions. But the Board of Education tried to ignore him. That’s when families sued, and now the courts have spoken loud and clear: the Constitution still matters.

We’re also seeing support at the national level. U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. backed the governor’s position and told states that if they take federal vaccine money, they have to honor religious exemptions. That’s a big deal. Even at the federal level, we’re seeing a shift toward respecting personal freedom and religious liberty.

Now the fight moves to the state legislature. Governor Morrisey is calling on lawmakers to pass a bill that locks in these religious exemptions for good. He’s right. We can’t leave this up to unelected bureaucrats who think they know better than parents. We need laws that protect our rights, not policies that trample them.

West Virginia is finally joining 45 other states that allow some form of non-medical vaccine exemption. That should’ve happened a long time ago. Only a handful of far-left states like California and New York still refuse to honor religious beliefs. No surprise there.

This is about more than vaccines. It’s about who gets to decide what’s right for your family—you or the government. As someone who’s stood on the front lines for this country, I’ll always side with the people. Our faith, our values, and our freedom are worth fighting for.

So hats off to the folks in West Virginia who stood their ground. And to every parent out there who’s tired of being pushed around by big government, let this be a sign: we’re winning the fight for liberty, one state at a time. Keep pushing. Keep standing. We’ve got your six.
