USCIS Director Joe Edlow just confirmed some great news for voters who disagreed with Biden’s immigration policies — the Trump administration is going back through the guest list from Biden’s four-year open-border house party and checking every single ID at the door.
About time somebody checked the last administration’s homework. Biden’s DHS was handing out green cards and asylum approvals like Halloween candy — no questions asked, no follow-up, just “here you go, welcome to America, don’t forget to vote Democrat.”
Edlow went on the record to confirm that USCIS is actively re-vetting migrants who received green cards and asylum status under the Biden administration. We’re talking about a systematic review of cases that were rubber-stamped during the worst border crisis in American history. Cases where the “vetting” process apparently consisted of asking applicants if they pinky-promised not to be criminals.
Now, the open-borders crowd is absolutely losing their minds over this. They’re calling it “unprecedented” and “cruel” and every other word in the liberal outrage thesaurus. You know what’s actually unprecedented? Processing millions of asylum claims with all the rigor of a McDonald’s drive-through window.
(“Would you like citizenship with that? Pull around to window two.”)
Here’s what Edlow’s team is actually doing — and it’s beautiful in its simplicity. They’re pulling the case files. Reading them. Cross-referencing them against criminal databases. Running the background checks that should have been run the first time. You know, the bare minimum that any functioning government would do before handing someone permanent residency in the greatest country on Earth.
The Biden administration processed these cases at warp speed because they had quotas to hit. Not security quotas. Not quality-control quotas. Political quotas. The more people they could shove through the pipeline and onto voter rolls, the better. Due diligence was a speed bump, and Biden’s DHS treated speed bumps the way Kamala treats press conferences — by avoiding them entirely.
And before the ACLU starts filing their fourteenth lawsuit of the week, nobody is talking about rounding people up and deporting them based on paperwork errors. This is an audit. The same kind of audit that every functioning institution in America performs regularly. The IRS audits your taxes. Your company audits its books. The only people who are terrified of audits are people who know the books are cooked.
Which tells you everything you need to know about why Democrats are panicking.
Think about this for a second. If Biden’s vetting process was so thorough and so legitimate, then a re-review should confirm that, right? Every case should hold up under scrutiny. Every green card should check out. So why is the Left treating this like a five-alarm fire? Could it be because they know — they absolutely know — that thousands of these approvals were garbage?
We already saw what happened when Biden’s DHS skipped the vetting. A naturalized citizen with a violent criminal record murdered a DHS employee walking her dog. That’s not a hypothetical. That’s a body. That’s the cost of cutting corners on national security because your party needed warm bodies to pad the census numbers.
Edlow isn’t being vindictive. He’s being responsible. There’s a difference, and it’s a difference that Democrats have never understood because responsibility isn’t really their thing. Their thing is spending other people’s money, opening other people’s borders, and then acting shocked — shocked! — when somebody suggests maybe we should double-check their work.
The adults are back in the building, folks. And the first thing the adults did was pull out every file drawer Biden’s crew slammed shut and start reading what’s inside. Some of those files are going to check out just fine. And some of them are going to reveal exactly the kind of fraud and incompetence that we all knew was happening while Biden was napping through his presidency.
Grab the popcorn. This audit is just getting started.
