Funny how the people who put that slogan on their masthead can’t seem to find the story when the journalist getting attacked has the wrong politics. Unbelievable.
Savanah Hernandez is a reporter for Turning Point USA. She was in Minneapolis covering the anti-ICE protests — you know, the ones where Democrats and their activist buddies throw tantrums because the federal government has the audacity to enforce laws that have been on the books for decades. Hernandez wasn’t heckling anyone. She wasn’t starting arguments. She was holding a camera and documenting what was happening.
That was her crime. Documenting.
The mob figured out she worked for TPUSA and that was all it took. They surrounded her. They hit her. They spit on her. And then some 250-pound hero — a real brave guy, that one — shoved her to the ground. A grown man throwing a woman to the pavement because she works for a conservative media outlet. His mother must be so proud.
Here’s the thing the geniuses in the mob didn’t think about: she kept the camera rolling the entire time. Every shove, every spit, every tough-guy moment — all captured in beautiful high definition for the FBI to review at their leisure. And review it they will, because Vice President Vance personally promised FBI prosecution of everyone involved.
Three of the attackers have already been identified. At least one — a woman, naturally — was arrested and released. (Because Minneapolis, of course.) Hernandez is pressing charges against all of them, and with video evidence this clear, their lawyers are going to have a real fun time in court explaining how their clients were just “peacefully protesting” while physically assaulting a woman half their size.
Lawrence Jones on *Fox & Friends* said what every normal person was thinking: “A man should never hit a woman.” Brian Kilmeade pointed out that the attackers were only identified “because she was courageous enough to keep the camera rolling.” Ainsley Earhardt described the footage plainly: “They pushed her, shoved her to the ground, and assaulted her.”
Hernandez later appeared on *The Ingraham Angle* and said she was “terrified to do her job.” A reporter. In America. Terrified to do her job. Because she covered a protest from the wrong ideological angle.
Now, quick pop quiz: what do you think would happen if a mob of MAGA hat-wearing protesters surrounded a CNN reporter, spit on her, hit her, and threw her to the ground on camera? Take your time. We all know the answer. It would be the lead story on every network for six straight weeks. Congress would hold hearings. The president would address the nation. Anderson Cooper would cry on camera. They’d probably name a journalism award after her.
But when it happens to a conservative reporter? Crickets from ABC. Silence from CBS. Not a peep from NBC. The Washington Post didn’t even bother running it on page A47 between the crossword puzzle and the horoscopes.
This is the same crowd that spent four years lecturing us about “threats to democracy” and “attacks on the free press” after Trump called Jim Acosta rude at a press conference. Trump said mean words to a reporter and they acted like the First Amendment had been repealed. An actual mob physically attacks an actual reporter and they can’t find their keyboards.
We’ve said it before, and the evidence keeps piling up: the Left doesn’t care about press freedom. They care about THEIR press freedom. If you’re reporting for the right outlets and saying the right things, you’re a sacred institution. If you’re holding a camera for Turning Point USA at a protest they support, you’re fair game for a beatdown.
The good news? Savanah Hernandez kept that camera rolling. The FBI has the footage. JD Vance is on it. And those three brave “activists” who thought it was a great idea to assault a woman on camera are about to find out that federal charges hit a little different than a misdemeanor in Minneapolis.
