In preparation for his anticipated 2024 presidential run, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been traveling throughout the nation and the globe in recent months, abandoning his home state.
In Jacksonville, where an inadequately funded insurgent Democrat candidate defeated their Republican competitor earlier this week, DeSantis’ self-serving approach has resulted in a disaster. This indicates that Jacksonville, which was formerly the biggest city in the nation and was governed by Republicans, has been captured by the Democrats. It is a serious blemish on DeSantis’ reputation, who has been puffed up about how much of a “winner” he is for months.
In a runoff vote this week, Democrat Donna Deegan won the position of mayor of Jacksonville against Republican Daniel Davis. With 112,213 votes to Davis’ 103,888, she triumphed. The total was a little above 8,000. DeSantis might have easily turned the vote in his direction and kept the city from going Democratic if he had been actively campaigning for Davis throughout the state in the last days prior to the election.
Instead, Ron was circumventing Florida’s “Resign to Run” rule by traveling to Iowa to make campaign stops:
“Any officer that is eligible for a federal public position must step down from the position that he or she is currently holding if the terms, or any portion thereof, run concurrently with each other,” according to Florida Statutes Chapter 99.012 (4)(a).
The “Resign to Run Law” was passed to prevent egotistical, narcissistic politicians from leaving Florida to pursue their national goals at the expense of their constituents. DeSantis has run a covert campaign that depends on dark money super political action committees to carry out his campaign as he traverses the nation pretending to be on a book tour. Journalist Laura Loomer has exposed what she thinks to be criminal behavior by DeSantis.
“Wow! The DeSanctimonious-backed GOP candidate for the mayor of Jacksonville, FL, lost in a significant upset. This is shocking news. He would have won easily if they had asked for my endorsement. Too arrogant to do it. Fools! For the Republican Party, this is a MAJOR LOSS. Keep in mind that I was the only reason ‘Rob’ won.” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
DeSantis has undergone a spectacular turnaround from an emerging political star to the nation’s top RINO. DeSantis’ pride will be his demise; he might have remained in Trump’s shadow and been a serious candidate in 2028, but blew it by siding with the globalists and stabbing Trump right in the back.
