Because Joe Biden foolishly pulled out troops without a plan, thousands of lives are in peril. His administration hastily cobbles together a plan to evacuation Americans and Afghan allies stuck in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. But the situation continues to worsen.
Some critics blasted Biden for prioritizing Afghan refugees over American civilians. The State Department even warned fleeing Americans that they couldn’t guarantee their safety on their way to the airport. The Taliban gave the U.S. an August 31st deadline and Biden obeyed.
So, where are we on the evacuation efforts? Nowhere near where we should be. And the White House just admitted it won’t be able to rescue all Americans in time.
Roughly 3,800 Americans have been evacuated from Afghanistan since July 29, with an estimated 8,000 remaining in the country…. The official told the Caller that it seems “doubtful we are going to bring in 8,000 more Americans” between now and the Aug. 31 deadline…
The official said while there’s been no clear direction on not reporting the numbers, it’s become a quiet rule among officials to avoid giving out a more precise number, in part because it’s “embarrassingly low.” [Source: Daily Caller]
The situation couldn’t be worse. Over the last 24 hours (at the time of this writing) about 350 Americans were evacuated. Even if troops are able to continue that daily trend, that wouldn’t be near enough to ensure all got out. About 5,200 Americans would be stranded in Afghanistan after the deadline.
Worse still, the process is believed to already started to slow down, as Biden is hastily pulling troops out.
Hmm… Biden seems really good at removing soldiers from Afghanistan. Civilians, who have no means of fighting back? Not so much.
This is a huge disgrace for the United States. Biden had ample time to plan a withdrawal that would not expose civilians to the Taliban. Why didn’t the White House come up with a plan that protected Americans lives, instead of leaving them in the dust?
At every step of the way, Biden has been making the worst decisions. It seems like he is working for the Taliban, not the United States. And every time he speaks about this issue, he appears smug, dismissive, and unconcerned.
As horrible as it is to say, how many American lives will be lost because of him? These aren’t troops, who signed up for that. These are civilians who were living and working in Afghanistan, not soldiers. Should they be left to the mercy of the Taliban, who is reportedly already mistreating them?
We can’t predict the long-term fallout of this failure, but it can’t be good. Biden will make excuses, he will try to distract from this glaring disaster. But honestly, Americans will not forget. This is a presidency-defining event, one that will taint Joe forever.
And on top of all that, he doesn’t even seem to care.
