ISIS-Linked Bomb Attack in NYC — Media Immediately Blames “Islamophobia” Instead

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Someone allegedly throws bombs at Americans on U.S. soil. Police start talking about terrorism. Investigators mention ISIS. And within minutes the media and the Democratic political class are desperately sprinting in the opposite direction — not toward the attackers, not toward the ideology, but toward some completely unrelated lecture about “Islamophobia.”

It’s like watching a fire alarm go off and the building manager immediately start yelling about smoke detector discrimination.

That’s exactly what happened this weekend outside Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Two suspects allegedly traveled from Pennsylvania with improvised explosive devices and threw them toward a protest crowd outside the mayor’s mansion. Not fireworks. Not smoke bombs. Actual IEDs packed with shrapnel. The kind designed to shred human bodies.

The NYPD says the investigation is being handled as ISIS-inspired terrorism.

But if you were following the reactions from Democrats and the media, you’d think the real crime that night was… someone protesting the spread of Islam outside the mayor’s house.

Because apparently that’s the real emergency here.

Let’s walk through what actually happened before we get to the part where the media completely loses its mind.

On March 7, a small protest gathered outside Gracie Mansion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The group was protesting what they called the “Islamic takeover” of New York City. Only twenty or so protesters were present. Around 125 counterprotesters were across the street trying to drown them out.

Then things escalated in a hurry.

According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, 18-year-old Amir Balat allegedly lit and threw an explosive device toward the group protesting the Islamic takeover. Witnesses saw flames and smoke. The device hit a barrier and landed in the street near police officers.

Balat allegedly ran, grabbed a second explosive device from 19-year-old Ibrahim Kayumi, and tried to ignite that one too before police tackled him.

Bomb technicians later examined the devices. They weren’t hoaxes. They weren’t props. They were real improvised explosive devices capable of causing serious injury and death.

One device reportedly contained nuts, bolts, and screws — which means whoever built it intended for the explosion to send a cloud of metal shrapnel ripping through the crowd.

Another contained TATP, the volatile homemade explosive used in multiple terrorist attacks around the world.

Police didn’t mince words about the investigation.

“This is being investigated as an act of ISIS-inspired terrorism,” Commissioner Tisch said.

Now here’s where the story takes a sharp left turn into Crazy Town.

Because instead of reacting to an alleged ISIS-linked bomb attack the way normal people would, Democrats and the media decided the real problem was… the protest.

Mayor Mamdani gave a press conference afterward. He condemned violence. He praised the NYPD. And then he immediately pivoted to scolding the protesters for “bigotry and racism.”

The suspects?

Just “two men.”

ISIS?

Never mentioned.

Radical ideology?

Nothing.

The mayor somehow managed to hold an entire press conference about an alleged ISIS-inspired bomb attack without actually mentioning ISIS.

That takes talent.

But Democrats weren’t about to let him suffer alone.

Enter progressive New York politician Brad Lander, a former city comptroller who is now running for Congress.

His reaction to the attempted bombing was absolutely priceless.

That’s right.

Bombs thrown at Americans.

ISIS investigation.

And the takeaway from a progressive Democrat running for Congress is… Islamophobia.

You almost have to admire the commitment to the narrative. It’s like a professional athlete refusing to drop character.

This is exactly what the media does every single time something like this happens.

Remember San Bernardino in 2015, when two ISIS-inspired terrorists murdered fourteen people at a Christmas party? Cable news spent days warning Americans not to engage in Islamophobia.

Remember the Orlando nightclub massacre in 2016, when the attacker pledged allegiance to ISIS? The conversation immediately shifted to gun control and anti-Muslim rhetoric instead of the ideology the killer himself declared. The Muslim jihadist targeted and killed Christians.

It’s the same playbook every time.

Someone commits violence.

Police mention jihadist ideology.

And the entire Democratic media ecosystem suddenly develops a severe allergy to the word “Islam.”

Suddenly the attackers are just “men.” The ideology disappears. The motive becomes mysterious. And the media starts lecturing Americans about how the real danger is the reaction to the attack.

You could set your watch by it.

Meanwhile the basic facts of what happened this weekend are still sitting right there.

Two suspects allegedly drove from Pennsylvania.

They allegedly brought explosive devices to a protest scene.

They allegedly threw at least one device toward a crowd.

Bomb technicians confirmed the devices were capable of causing serious harm.

And police say the case is being investigated as ISIS-inspired terrorism.

That’s the story.

Everything else is political theater designed to keep the conversation safely away from the uncomfortable part.

Now let’s be clear about something before the usual suspects start hyperventilating.

Nobody is blaming ordinary Muslims for what two suspects allegedly did. That would be idiotic.

But pretending radical Islamic terrorism doesn’t exist is just as idiotic — and that’s exactly what the media keeps trying to do.

The American public isn’t stupid. They can handle two ideas at once: most Muslims are peaceful, and radical Islamic terrorism is still a real threat.

The only people who seem incapable of understanding that are the same Democrats and journalists who keep trying to rewrite the story every time it happens.

And the more they pull this stunt, the more obvious it becomes what they’re doing.

They’re not reporting the news.

They’re protecting the narrative.
