Rep. Lauren Boebert isn’t backing down—not from the media, not from the Democrats, and certainly not from the folks mocking President Donald Trump’s decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.” In fact, she just fired a warning shot during a House legislative hearing: Keep mocking America First policies, and next up might be the “District of America.”
Boebert, R-Colo., made her comments during a Water, Fisheries and Wildlife Subcommittee hearing on the Gulf of America Act, which supports Trump’s executive order to rename the iconic body of water.
“I would caution my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to refrain from making fun of the Gulf of America because next up may end up being the District of America that we are working on,” she said. “So just, you know, keep the jokes at bay, and maybe we’ll just stick with the Gulf of America for now.”
Translation: the left better be careful, because this America First movement isn’t slowing down. From border walls to national pride, conservatives are taking their country back—name by name, city by city.
The left-wing media has been snickering ever since President Trump signed the order to rename the Gulf of Mexico—because nothing triggers coastal elites more than a bold, patriotic rebrand that puts America front and center. Trump’s decision wasn’t just symbolic. It was a declaration that American geography doesn’t need to pay tribute to foreign nations, especially when the waters belong to us and the name dates back to colonial leftovers.
This isn’t the first time Trump has reversed the globalist narrative. Early in his presidency, he restored the name of Alaska’s iconic peak from Denali back to Mount McKinley, refusing to bow to the woke trend of erasing history to appease radical activists.
Meanwhile, Trump has also put D.C. on notice. In a speech at the Department of Justice earlier this month, he vowed to clean up the nation’s capital, eliminate crime, and restore law and order. “We’re cleaning up this great capital, and we’re not going to have crime. And we’re not going to stand for crime,” Trump said. “We’re going to take the graffiti down. And we’ve already taken the tents down there.”
Of course, this came just after D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser caved to pressure and ordered the removal of the Black Lives Matter Plaza—a failed virtue signal that’s been rotting in front of the White House since 2020. The graffiti-style yellow letters—originally painted during the violent George Floyd riots—became a national embarrassment, especially as the city spiraled into crime and homelessness.
Now, with Boebert championing Trump’s agenda in the halls of Congress, it’s clear the conservative movement is reasserting American identity with force and pride.
Mock it all you want—but the Gulf of America is just the beginning.
