Once again, the Democrats are more upset about being left out of a meeting than they are about keeping America safe. Senator Mark Warner, a Democrat from Virginia, is throwing a fit because the Trump administration didn’t invite his party to a classified briefing about recent military strikes against drug boats in the Caribbean. Let’s be clear: these strikes are targeting narco-terrorists, not Sunday school teachers. And President Trump is doing what needs to be done to protect our borders, our families, and our future.
Warner called it “indefensible and dangerous” that Democrats weren’t included in the briefing. What’s actually dangerous is letting politics get in the way of military action. As a veteran, I’ve seen firsthand what happens when D.C. politicians try to micromanage missions from behind a desk. It costs lives. President Trump, along with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, is giving our military the freedom they need to take swift and decisive action against real threats. That’s leadership. That’s how you keep the homeland secure.
Let’s not forget what we’re dealing with here. These aren’t just boats floating around the Caribbean for fun. These are vessels loaded with drugs, weapons, and often human traffickers. They’re operated by cartels and narco-terrorists who have no respect for our laws or our lives. Since September, 14 strikes have taken out 61 of these threats. That’s 61 fewer criminals trying to poison our communities or sneak across our southern border. That’s a win, no matter which side of the aisle you’re on.
But the Democrats don’t see it that way. They’re more concerned about getting their invite to the classified party than they are about stopping the flow of fentanyl into American neighborhoods. Warner even said this was a “slap in the face” to Congress. No, Senator, the real slap in the face is the open-border policies your party continues to push, which allow these criminals to get in and out of this country with ease. President Trump is finally doing something about it, and now you’re mad because you weren’t consulted first?
The Pentagon has already said that the appropriate committees were briefed. They’ve even said it was done on a bipartisan basis. So what’s Warner really upset about? He’s upset that the Trump administration didn’t hand him a political weapon he could use to attack the President. That’s what this is really about. Not oversight. Not legality. Just another attempt by the left to undermine Trump’s success in protecting this country.
And let’s talk about the so-called legal concerns. The Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel already gave the green light for these strikes. Secretary Hegseth and the Pentagon followed the law. But that’s not good enough for the left. They want to drag this out, demand more paperwork, and tie our warfighters’ hands with red tape. Meanwhile, the cartels don’t care one bit about legal memos or Senate hearings. They’re moving product, trafficking people, and killing anyone who gets in their way. President Trump understands that. That’s why he’s taking the fight directly to them.
Even Senator Rand Paul raised concerns about innocent lives. Fair enough. We should always be cautious. But let’s not pretend these aren’t dangerous operators. If they’re running in fast boats with no national flags and no cargo paperwork in hot drug corridors, they’re not on vacation. They’re a threat. And threats get dealt with.
Bottom line: President Trump is doing what Joe Biden never had the courage to do. He’s using the greatest military on Earth to stop criminals before they reach our shores. If that upsets Democrats, maybe they should take a hard look in the mirror and ask themselves whose side they’re really on. Because from where I sit, Trump is on the side of the American people—and that’s exactly where he should be.
