During an event in Washington, D.C., Biden appeared to cite a teleprompter instruction that prohibited him from reading aloud.
As he was discussing his plans for a second term, Biden remarked, “Consider what we can do next.” Another four years. Hold on.
People in the audience began chanting, “Four more years!” as Biden appeared to be squinting at the teleprompter before smiling.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) account published the alleged error on X, and at the time of publication, it had received over 1.6 million views.
Richard Grenell, a former US ambassador and acting director of national intelligence under the Trump administration, was one of those making fun of Biden.
Grenell revealed on X that Joe Biden used the word “pause” due to its presence on his teleprompter. It was there to remind him to take a breath before continuing. However, he said the term aloud.
Even though Biden’s slip-up was minor, it is the most recent in a string of embarrassing moments that have raised questions about his mental health and capacity to continue leading the country at 81 years old.
Results from a March survey by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research revealed that 63% of American people have little to no faith in Biden’s mental fitness to serve as president.
In contrast, 57% of American people surveyed felt the same way about Trump, who is launching a second White House campaign this year despite being 77 years old.
In an attempt to allay worries about his advanced age, Biden responded, “Watch me.”
Those who merely read the transcript of Biden’s speech on Wednesday and did not watch the video would not believe that he read aloud from the teleprompter inappropriately.
This is due to the fact that, although the audio is quite clear, the transcript labels a portion of what Biden said as “inaudible,” as the RNC report noted.
The story on X stated, “Biden’s handlers want to pretend this extremely humiliating incident did not happen.”
