Following His Success in Venezuela, Trump Eyes More Nations to Clean Up

President Trump is not slowing down. After the successful mission that took down Venezuela’s dictator Nicolás Maduro, he made it clear that other nations, who purposefully hurt the United States are now on notice. Trump spoke with reporters from Air Force One and laid out his vision for a stronger, safer Western Hemisphere—one that no longer lets criminals, cartels and communists run wild right in our backyard.

As a military veteran, I’ve seen what happens when weak leaders let bad actors take control. It doesn’t stay their problem for long—it becomes ours. That’s why Trump’s plan to deal with countries like Colombia and Cuba makes sense. He’s not looking for war—he’s looking for safety, for strength, and for peace through power.

Let’s start with Colombia. Trump said its president is a “sick man” who’s been running cocaine factories and shipping poison straight into the United States.

He’s right. Colombia has long been one of the biggest sources of illegal drugs that flood our streets. It’s not new. What is new is a president who’s actually willing to do something about it. Trump made it clear: if Colombia won’t stop it, we will.

When the President was asked by reporters if a similar operation in Columbia was being considered, Trump replied “Sounds good to me.”

President Trump’s plan to keep America safe doesn’t end with Colombia. Trump also pointed at Cuba. He reminded us that Cuba’s communist regime has only survived this long because of money and support from Venezuela. Now that Maduro is out of the picture, Cuba is weaker. That’s a window of opportunity to finally deal with a regime that has oppressed its own people for decades and spread its poison across Latin America.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters that Cuba and Venezuela were tightly intertwined and that’s a problem. “In some cases, one of the biggest problems Venezuelans have is they have to declare independence from Cuba. They tried to basically colonize it from a security standpoint. So, yeah, look if I lived in Havana and I was in the government, I’d be concerned at least a little bit.”

And then, there’s Greenland. Some folks laugh when Trump talks about it. But I’ve been around long enough to know that strategic land matters. Greenland might seem like a cold, remote island, but it’s a key location for national security. That icy rock sits between North America and Europe. It’s close to the Arctic, where Russia and China are already poking around. Trump is paying attention while other leaders laugh it off.

He said it best: “You have Russian and Chinese ships all over the place.” He also joked that Denmark’s idea of boosting security in Greenland was “adding one more dog sled.” That’s not going to cut it. If we let China or Russia take hold in Greenland, we’re giving them a front-row seat to the entire North Atlantic. That’s a threat we can’t ignore.

Of course, global elites are already complaining. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom said only Greenland and Denmark should decide its future. That’s easy to say from across the ocean. But when our enemies get too close for comfort, we’re the ones who pay the price—not him. Trump understands that. As veterans, we’ve seen what happens when we wait too long to act.

Some people will get upset about Trump’s bold talk. Let them. We’ve had too many years of weak leadership, of bowing to foreign dictators and pretending everything’s fine. Trump is sending a message: the days of ignoring threats are over. We’re not going to let drug lords, communists, or foreign powers set up shop in our hemisphere.

This is about protecting our borders, our families, and our future. It’s about standing up to evil and not backing down. And it’s about reminding the world that the United States, under strong leadership, is still the most powerful, most capable force for good on the planet.

As someone who wore the uniform, I stand behind this mission. It’s not about taking over the world—it’s about keeping ours safe. Trump knows that. He’s bringing back the kind of leadership we need—strong, smart, and unafraid to do what’s right. We’ve got his back, and it looks like he’s got ours.
