Trump Slams Colombia’s Petro Amid Drug Crisis Chaos

President Trump made it clear this week that he’s done playing nice when it comes to the drug crisis hammering our country. He told reporters that any country sending drugs into the United States could face attack. He singled out Colombia, which is the world’s top producer of cocaine. That didn’t sit well with Colombia’s far-left president, Gustavo Petro. In response, Petro fired back with a threat of his own, warning Trump not to “awaken the Jaguar.”

Now, let’s be honest here. Petro’s reaction was more bark than bite. He tried to sound tough, but the truth is, he’s been soft on drugs since day one. Petro is a former member of the Marxist M19 terrorist group and is Colombia’s first leftist president. He’s even gone so far as to say cocaine is “less harmful” than sugar. That kind of thinking is not only reckless—it’s dangerous.

Petro jumped on social media and claimed his government had destroyed over 18,000 drug labs “without missiles,” mocking the U.S. military’s precision strikes on drug-running boats in the Caribbean. He said Colombia is doing its part to stop cocaine from reaching America. But the facts tell a different story.

According to the United Nations, cocaine production in Colombia is now at record highs. That didn’t happen by accident. It happened because Petro’s policies have allowed drug cartels to grow stronger and bolder. His government’s so-called “drug fighting” methods are a joke, and everyone paying attention knows it.

President Trump, unlike Petro, understands that drug trafficking is not just a foreign issue—it’s a national security threat. These drugs are killing Americans by the thousands. Fentanyl, cocaine, heroin—you name it. They’re pouring across the border and tearing apart families. President Trump is right to say that any nation helping this poison get into our country should be held accountable.

Petro’s angry response shows just how out of touch he is. He accused Trump of threatening Colombia’s “sovereignty.” But let’s be real—when you’re flooding another country with deadly drugs, you’ve already crossed the line. And Petro isn’t just looking the other way. He’s defending the drug trade. He even said the men on the drug boats hit by U.S. strikes weren’t traffickers, but “drug trafficking workers.” That’s woke nonsense. These aren’t innocent workers—they’re criminals helping to kill Americans.

Petro’s record speaks for itself. His own former officials have accused him of drug use. His policies have led to more cocaine on the streets. And now he’s picking fights with the President of the United States as if he’s in a position of strength. He’s not.

The U.S. Treasury already hit Petro with sanctions last year. They accused him of being involved in activities that help spread illegal drugs around the world. That’s serious. And now, instead of backing down, he’s doubling down and threatening war with the U.S.? That’s not leadership—that’s desperation.

President Trump is doing what a Commander-in-Chief should do: defend the homeland and stop the flow of drugs at the source. If that means putting pressure on corrupt foreign leaders, so be it. America comes first.

To the men and women still serving, and to the veterans who’ve seen firsthand how these drug wars play out—this isn’t just politics. It’s about protecting our people, our communities, and our borders. We’ve lost too many lives to drugs already. Enough is enough.

Petro can rant all he wants. But if he really wants to help his people and ours, he should stop defending cocaine and start fighting the cartels. Until then, President Trump is right to keep the pressure on. Our country’s safety depends on it.
