Republican Governors Team Up–Blast Biden’s Latest Spending and Tax Bill

Sen. Joe Manchin and Chuck Schumer reached a deal to push a massive spending and tax bill. The bill will cost us $740 billion dollars and will address “climate change” and other progressive priorities. It is wrongly called the “Inflation Reduction Act.” In reality, it will raise taxes and put people out of work.

The fate of the bill is still in limbo. Senators like Krysten Sinema have yet to announce where they stand on it. But Republicans are not sitting down on this one. Because 22 Republican governors are firing back—saying this bill will only make inflation worse.

Nearly two dozen Republican governors slammed a massive spending bill that Democrats are trying to ram through the U.S. Senate in a statement Thursday, saying that the bill will worsen inflation…

“The Democrats’ solution to 40-year high inflation is passing another reckless tax and spending spree to the tune of $740 billion, affecting Americans in every tax bracket,” the statement said. “While denying recession, Democrats want to raise taxes on businesses and manufacturers, which will force higher costs onto consumers, worsen inflation, and aggravate shortages.” […]

Nearly every Republican governor signed a letter blasting Democrats’ plans to pass another spending and tax bill. They point out that the bill will worsen inflation that has already hammered Americans. The increases in taxes will not only result in higher costs, but many companies will be forced to lay off workers as a result.

Biden claims we are not in a recession, yet this bill will most certainly trigger a recession—as thousands could lose their jobs.

What’s even more outrageous in this bill is that it does nothing to address the ongoing gas crisis. We are facing record inflation and a recession, because Biden shut down drilling on federal land. The shutting down of America’s energy sector is directly hurting our economy. Yet the cowardly Democrats in the Senate refuse to reverse Biden’s decision with this inflation.

The bill will throw more money into the “green” sector, even though it has failed to provide relief in this crisis.

Inflation has only risen every month since Joe Biden’s been in office. He has ignored it, dismissed it, and claimed it would go away on its own. Now, he and his party claim they can reduce it by spending and taxing more. Even though that has never been the solution to inflation in the past.

It’s unlikely that Democrats in the Senate will listen to these governors. But state leaders need to fight back in order to protect their residents. This letter could pave the way for other solutions at the state level.
