Police Fleeing Blue New York, Refuse to Stick Around for Pensions in ‘Woke’ City

The once “Greatest City in the World” is now a laughing stock. Woke progressives have taken over New York in recent years. And they’ve reduced the Big Apple into a living nightmare. These Democrats have pushed “criminal justice reform” which is just code for policies that put violent offenders back on the streets.

They’ve also gone a long way to punish the hard-working men and women who keep the city safe. Not only has the NYPD’s budgets been slashed, but they are ordered by these woke leaders not to use measures to subdue criminals. Police hands are tied, as crime skyrockets all over New York.

Now, cops are leaving their jobs. Not even full pensions are worth sticking around for another minute.

Over 1,000 New York City police officers have filed to leave the department in 2022, raising doubts about the city’s ability to maintain a substantive police force and maintain safety and security…

You’re losing qualified [people], you’re losing experience, you’re losing so much when it comes to that kind of stuff,” [Former NYPD detective Jason] Caputo told guest host Ashley Strohmier…

The former detective’s comments come a month after he left his 18-year service and as others partaking in the exodus leave before receiving full pensions.

Caputo claimed the city is “steering away” from encouraging officers to apprehend criminals, adding that city and NYPD leaders are “putting victims and police in jeopardy.” [Source: Fox News]

Not only has New York slashed the NYPD’s budget, reducing resources needed by cops. But they also passed a “diaphragm law” which prohibits officers from using non-lethal techniques to subdue criminals. After the misreported cause of death of George Floyd, Democrats rushed to deny cops options for stopping criminals.

Without such measures, criminals are free to commit violence, with police unable to stop them. Cops already get hell for using firearms. Now, they can’t even subdue a perp safely?

Jason Caputo left the force after 18 years. He left early, without his pension, because things are getting so bad. Right now, he is even forced to discourage people from considering a job with the NYPD, because of how badly they’ll be treated.

All of this has amounted to record crime. Yet New Yorkers continue to vote for the same clowns who got them into this mess in the first place. The latest mayor is just as bad as the last one, refusing to provide police with the support they need (despite being a form police captain himself).

How long before there are no cops left to keep the streets safe? Are we supposed to let New York become a Mad Max-style hellscape?

Hey, as long as voters keep supporting these imbeciles, what are we supposed to do?
