Remember the “J6 Commission”? It has already gone down as one of the many illegitimate attempts by the left to slander Donald Trump. If Democrats really had evidence that Trump was behind some kind of “insurrection” (which amounted to a bunch of idiots running around the Capitol), then it would have been sent to the Department of Justice.
You don’t air hearings on television, which have no legal bearing or consequences if you have a smoking gun. This, like the impeachment farces and the Russian hoax, is yet another pathetic attempt by a losing party to slander a man they so fear and hate.
But, as you might expect, this commission did nothing to change public opinion.
The House Jan. 6 committee hearings have not affected public opinion about the U.S. Capitol riot or former President Donald Trump and in fact, fewer people now view Trump as responsible for the incident, according to a Monmouth University poll…
Nearly all opinions between the two surveys remained within the margin of error of +/- 3.5%.
The only view on Trump that changed beyond the margin of error is that 4% fewer Americans said they view Trump as “directly responsible” for Jan. 6 now. [Source: Just the News]
Let’s be clear: the very reason Democrats held these legally pointless hearings was to convince Americans that Trump was behind the Capitol riot. But the poll proved that the only opinion that was changed—after all the hearings—was that fewer people now think Trump was behind the riot.
That is what we call a great big goose egg. Democrats failed to do the one thing they were trying to do, slander Trump before the American public.
Hmm… maybe this has something to do with the FBI’s unprecedented and largely-condemned raid on Trump’s home? Democrats failed to discredit Trump with their commission. So, they got Joe Biden’s DOJ to hold a raid on Mar-a-Largo over disputed paperwork. All so that it would look really back for Trump. After all, why would the FBI raid a home, unless that person was really guilty?
Considering the weak basis for the raid (from what we’ve been told), it makes more sense that it was conducted just to make Trump look bad. Obama took millions of documents with him when he left office. Clinton took, not just documents, but actual furniture from the White House. Neither were raided.
When you think about how badly the J6 commission failed to change public opinion, this raid seems to make more sense. Trump continues to dominate the political conversation. His endorsement record this season has been incredible. Rumors continue to swirl that he will run in 2024, while more and more Americans are demanding Biden drop out.
Democrats have no real ammunition against Trump. They can’t steal another election, without sparking an actual insurrection. So, they are doing what they can, with what they have, to hurt Trump as much as possible.
But, as we’ve seen, they continue to fail.
