The radical left’s agenda is to choke out fossil fuel until Americans have no choice but to “go green.” In blue states, they have moved aggressively to shut down oil and coal power plants. But, as you can expect, the plan hasn’t worked.
In far-left California, they are even banning the sale of gas cars by 2035. They have shut down most of their traditional sources of energy generation. How has the worked out for them? Well, in recent years, they’ve had to deal with crippling backouts. This year might be the worst. Things are so bad, that they are pushing back plans to shut down their last nuclear plant.
The California State Legislature voted Wednesday to postpone the closure of the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant, the state’s last, as an acute energy shortage forced “green” ideologues to rethink the wisdom of cutting off 6% of the state’s current power supply…
The Los Angeles Times noted: “California’s inability to avoid rolling blackouts during 2020 heat waves prompted Newsom to reconsider closing Diablo, the state’s single largest power source. The plant generated 6% of California’s electricity last year.”
Feinstein wrote in a letter that renewable energy sources had not yet been able to make up for lost nuclear power or fossil fuels. [Source: Breitbart]
Democrats know that “green” energy cannot meet electricity demands. Yet they are still pushing forward with plans to upend traditional sources of energy. Gov. Newsom and Sen. Feinstein had to beg the state’s Democrat-run legislature to postpone shutting down their one nuclear plant, admitting that their green solutions are a failure.
Want to know a dirty little secret? States and cities that have moved to “green” energy can only survive because they buy power from states that still use fossil fuels. California can only provide the electricity it does to residents because they often dip into the power supply of neighboring states.
The same thing happens nationally when men like Joe Biden shut down our oil industry. We still need oil, so we are forced to buy it from Saudi Arabia, Russia, and other foreign counties. The left’s “green” solution isn’t green at all–it only creates a financial burden on Americans while enriching others.
What will happen when this nuclear power plant does shut down (aside from putting many out of work)? Wind, solar, and geothermal are not ready for primetime. Some energy experts say they will never be ready. We will always need a large portion of our energy to come from fossil fuels. At least, for most of our lifetimes.
But Democrats blindly ignore the facts to push ahead with their “green” agenda. Which, incidentally, throws billions of tax dollars to companies they are invested in.
If Democrats really cared about sustainable energy for the future, they wouldn’t shut down nuclear plants. And they wouldn’t race to destroy fossil fuels.
But this was never about helping Americans but helping themselves.
