According to The New York Post, almost two dozen homeless veterans, including a “24-year-old man in urgent need of assistance after serving inside Afghanistan, were informed by hotel managers at the start of the week that their temporary accommodation was being taken away from under them and that they would need to find another place.”
The Post had a traditional New York Post cover.
Consider that. Seriously. A struggling 24-year-old Afghan War veteran was informed by a hotel that his “extended stay” was finished. “We appreciate you staying with us, but we kindly ask that you not return.”
Several motels kicked out over two dozen homeless veterans who were suffering. A Veteran with a disability and CEO of the Yerik Israel Toney Foundation (YIT), Sharon Toney-Finch, spoke to The Post. YIT was founded to help spread awareness about preterm births and to support homeless and low-income veterans who need help with daily living expenses.
“Due to the situation with the immigration, our veterans have been moved to another hotel. Many of them served in Vietnam. We do constantly assist them in obtaining assistance and finding a place in society. We must now start from scratch. We just lost the veterans’ confidence.”
According to Toney-Finch, the hotels’ decision to eject the veterans was motivated by money.
“They get higher wages for the illegals. That is very unjust considering that we are a very small organization and actually pay a veteran $88 each day to be there.”
Apologies Ms. Toney-Finch, however Mayor Eric Adams along with the New York City Council don’t just have a lot more resources at their disposal, but they also would like to get the illegal aliens that Texas Governor Greg Abbott sent to the city — whose border communities have been overrun with tens of thousands of illegal immigrants — out of NYC as soon as possible.
