GOP Mike Erickson trails Dem. Andrea Salinas by just one point in the OR Sixth Congressional District, which would have supported Pres. Joe Biden by 13 points in the 2020 election. This could be a bad omen for the left.
According to a survey conducted internally by Salinas, she and the Republican are in a close contest.
A generic Republican was found to be leading a generic Dem, 48 percent to 44 percent, according to the GBAO tactics poll.
Furthermore, Salinas received 45% of the votes from the 500 registered voters in the congressional district, while Erickson received 44%. Nine percent were unsure, while 2% stated they would support the Libertarian candidate.
With 59 percent of respondents saying they can recognize Erickson and 48 percent saying they can recognize Salinas, Erickson has a name identification advantage. Interestingly, among voters who could name both candidates, Salinas had a 53 percent to 41 percent advantage.
Additionally, the poll revealed that former President Donald Trump trailed Biden by 30 points in the district while Biden was trailing by 17 points.
In Oregon’s Sixth Congressional District, 500 potential voters participated in the survey from October 3 to October 5. A 95 percent level of confidence was used, and the margin of error was 4.4 percent.
Oregon’s Sixth Electoral District was deemed safe for any Dem running through the redistricting process last year. It was a “Biden +13 fortress in suburban Portland and Salem,” as Cook Political Report put it.
In fact, on Tues., Cook Political Report changed the district’s classification from “lean” Democrat to “toss-up.” “Since Republican supplier consultant Mike Erickson and Democratic state Representative, Andrea Salinas, an outspoken progressive policy wonk, are consistently even or ahead in both parties’ polls, capturing the seat has proven to be a much more difficult proposition for Democrats,” the article stated.
According to Courtney Parella, a spokesman for the NRCCÂ “Oregon voters are opposing Andrea Salinas as well as her party’s toxic ideology that has resulted in increasing prices and surging violent crime.”
In addition, Parella cited a recent Fox News report in which Salinas stated that the DCCC is concerned about how the president’s declining approval numbers could influence Democratic candidates.
