Veteran Cop Slapped with Massive Sentence, Longest of J6 Convictions

Deep State officials in the Justice Department are quietly imprisoning anyone present at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Many J6 defendants have been left to rot in a D.C. gulag for more than one year as they await trial.

A veteran police officer was found guilty on Thursday by a D.C. judge and given the lengthiest sentence of any of the protestors thus far.

A 20-year New York Police Department veteran was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, the longest sentence a defendant has received in connection to the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.

Thomas Webster, 56, was found guilty of six counts in early May, including the assault of an officer, interfering with police in a riot, trespassing, and disorderly and violent conduct while carrying a deadly or dangerous weapon on Capitol grounds, according to court records. The former officer was the fourth defendant to go to trial and be found guilty, and he was the first Jan. 6 defendant to be convicted for assaulting a police officer.

“What you did that day, it is hard to really put into words,” said Judge Amit Mehta, who did not go with the 17-year prison sentence sought by prosecutors.

Webster maintained that he acted in self-defense when he tackled U.S. Capitol Police officer Noah Rathbun and struck him with a metal flagpole.

Video footage played in court in May showed Webster on the day of the riot yelling obscenities at officers as he pushed forward with the crowd. At one point, he pushed a metal bike rack into Rathbun, prompting the officer to push back. Webster then swung the flagpole at Rathbun, tackling him to the ground as the crowd surged forward.

The former NYPD officer testified that Rathbun instigated the fight by gesturing him forward and then hitting him in the face, though video footage shown during the trial did not show any such interaction. Webster said he then felt afraid for his safety, prompting him to fight back.

FBI agents and Capitol Police who testified at the trial rejected this account, noting Rathbun’s actions were in line and appropriate for protecting the perimeter of the building.

Notice how while Democrats accuse Trump of fomenting an insurrection, not one J6 defendant has been charged or convicted as an insurrectionist?
