Unfortunately, a lot were released by sanctuary policies. But we’re here to tell the Commonwealth and the rest of the country that we’re going to find them, whether they’re released or not.” Translation: ICE is cleaning up the mess left behind by sanctuary jurisdictions that prioritize political virtue-signaling over public safety.
In one case, ICE made a collateral arrest—apprehending an illegal alien who wasn’t the initial target—because he was with an MS-13 gang member recently released by a sanctuary jurisdiction that ignored an ICE detainer. This is exactly what Trump’s former border czar Tom Homan warned would happen in these so-called sanctuary cities. Criminal aliens are being released back onto the streets, putting law-abiding Americans at risk, while Democrats claim moral superiority.
The results of Trump’s policies are already clear. In just the first days of his administration, ICE has arrested over 460 illegal immigrants with criminal records that include sexual assault, domestic violence, and weapons offenses.
