President Trump recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming New York City mayoral race. He believes that Democrat Zohran Mamdani is likely to win. Trump made the comments during a recent event, jokingly calling Mamdani “my little Communist.” While the line was delivered with humor, the message behind it was serious.
Let’s be clear—Zohran Mamdani is no friend to freedom-loving Americans. He’s a far-left politician who has made a name for himself by pushing socialist policies. Trump knows it, and so do many folks who care about law, order, and hard work. Mamdani represents a wing of the Democrat party that wants to defund the police, raise taxes, and give handouts to people who don’t earn them. That’s not what this country is about.
Trump’s prediction isn’t based on support or agreement with Mamdani—it’s based on hard reality. The anti-socialist vote is split. In the race, you’ve got Andrew Cuomo, running as an independent. You’ve got Eric Adams, the current mayor and a Democrat. Then there’s Curtis Sliwa, the Republican candidate. All of them are pulling support from different corners, while Mamdani has the radical left locked in. That’s how socialist candidates win—when the rest of us can’t unite behind one person.
The president said Cuomo was the strongest candidate to challenge Mamdani, even though Cuomo’s no conservative. But in a city like New York, sometimes you have to choose between bad and worse. Trump made it clear that even one strong candidate might not be enough now. That’s how far gone New York City is.
Here’s the bigger issue—and it’s one every veteran and patriot should care about. Mamdani, like most socialists, wants more government control. That means more rules, more taxes, and fewer freedoms. We’ve seen what that looks like in places like California and Portland. Crime goes up. Businesses shut down. Families leave. Now imagine that happening in the biggest city in America.
Trump also pointed out something important—money. No matter who gets elected mayor of New York City, they’re going to need help from Washington. That means federal dollars. Trump said, “He has to come to Washington for money, a lot of money.” He’s not wrong. Cities like New York are always asking for handouts, especially when their leaders mismanage the budget. If Mamdani wins, he’ll have to come crawling to the very government he claims to hate.
As a veteran, I’ve seen what happens when leadership fails. Whether it’s in combat or in city hall, weak leadership costs lives and livelihoods. Mamdani talks a big game about justice and fairness, but he’s never had to lead in a real crisis. He’s never worn a uniform. He’s never had to make life-or-death decisions. What he has done is push radical policies that weaken the country from the inside.
The people of New York deserve better, but they need to wake up. This isn’t just about one city. What happens in New York affects the rest of the country. It’s a symbol. If the radicals take over there, they’ll push harder in other places. That’s why Trump’s message matters.
This isn’t just campaign talk. It’s a warning. When the far left wins, the people lose. And if Mamdani becomes mayor, it’ll be the hardworking men and women of New York City who pay the price. Higher taxes, more crime, and less freedom.
The stakes are high, and it’s time to take this seriously. The socialist movement isn’t going away on its own. It has to be challenged, fought, and defeated by strong leadership—on the ground and in the voting booth. Trump knows this. So should we.
