It’s no secret that the immigration policies put forward by the Trump administration are responsible for the safety and security of our southern border during his first term. Unfortunately, Biden upended every single bit of progress on his first day in office. Since then, the American people have witnessed the ongoing crisis underway at the US-Mexico border as the situation becomes untenable.
Thanks to the border crisis he created, polls have shown for months that majorities of the public do not approve of President Joe Biden’s handling of immigration.
But does the public think President Donald Trump’s border policies were better? According to a new poll by the far-left Daily Kos website, the answer is yes.
Daily Kos asked 1,271 registered voters if they approve or disapprove of Biden’s “signing executive actions to reverse former President Trump’s immigration and border policies.”
Only 44% of respondents approved of Biden reversing Trump’s border policies, while 50% disapproved.
By contrast, 55% of respondents approved of Biden’s American Rescue Plan, a massive funding bill that provides bailouts during the COVID-19 pandemic; only 38% disapproved.
It is one thing for a majority of people to say they disapprove of the way Biden is handling the border. It is far more damning to have a majority of people say they disapprove specifically of Biden’s decision to overturn Trump border policies.
A majority of people clearly know that the border was safe and secure when Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy was in place and that Biden’s decision to overturn this policy on Day One of his administration directly led to the current border crisis.
The Supreme Court recently gave the Biden administration a golden opportunity to reverse course and reinstitute Remain in Mexico. Facing a court order forcing his administration to restart Remain in Mexico, Biden doesn’t even have to admit he was wrong. All he has to do is make illegal entry illegal again and blame the court for tying his hands.
But the American people know the truth: Joe Biden is wrong and because of his policies the country is suffering under the weight of mass illegal immigration.
