Top Democrat Could Now Be Going To Jail

A grand jury indicted Eric Adams (D), the mayor of New York City, this week as part of a federal probe, according to several sources.

The accusation against Adams was said to be sealed, which means that the “charge or charges” the mayor “will face” are unknown, according to the New York Times.

The news source says that the main question of the federal probe into Adams is “whether Adams and his campaign organized with the Turkish government to accept illegal foreign donations.”

The New York Post said that sources said Adams would “surrender to police early next week.”

Adams was charged with crimes at the same time that many officials in his office quit and are now being probed and searched. Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), NY City Councilmember Tiffany Caban, and New York City Assemblymember Emily Gallagher have asked Adams to “resign.”

“I don’t see how Adams can keep running the city,” Ocasio-Cortez stated in a post on X.

“The mass resignations are making it hard for the government to do its job. Investigations will never end, making it hard to hire and keep a skilled administration. He should step down for the good of the city.”

Ed Caban, who used to be the police commissioner of New York City, quit at the start of September after federal officials started looking into how the New York Police Department policed bars.

People in Adams’ office have also had their homes searched as part of a probe into Adams’ “2021 campaign.” These people include New York City First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and New York City Deputy Mayor of Public Safety Philip Banks.
