Following his survival of a Saturday assassination attempt, several supporters of former President Donald Trump believed that “God is protecting him.” Democratic strategist James Carville blasted this idea on Thursday.
A bullet just missed Trump’s skull during the attempted assassination attempt at his Pennsylvania rally, but some supporters of the former president now think that God is watching over him, according to The New York Times. On “Politics War Room,” Carville expressed his opinion that this worldview is “a perversion,” noting that Trump’s followers’ religious outlook will result in him crushing his rivals in the event of a reelection.
“As I’ve spoken on this show several times, I believed that Trump’s followers saw him as a religious leader rather than a political one. Carville added, “Of course, the fact that he nearly lost his head confirms to them that they were correct and that God was keeping him safe.” “He dispatched him… Do I believe it’s all just a matter of opinion? Naturally. Do you think it distorts any ideas you can produce? Indeed. Naturally. However, to them, this serves as much more evidence that God put him here. The prosecution and subsequent guilty verdict are standard procedures. They never stop persecuting the pious. James, do you not understand that? They put Jesus on trial.”
“Furthermore, we don’t really understand how important theology is to the majority of his fans. Your secular self knows all biblical stories because they are the only ones that can exist. And they see this as perfectly fitting within the biblical story,” he continued. Their religious perspective of events holds that Jesus endured persecution, died, was resurrected from the dead, and—I hate to tell you—in the final act, he defeated every opponent.”
Trump’s survival of the assassination attempt is “absolutely a miracle,” according to Dr. Marc Siegel, who stated on Monday that if he had not moved his head, the attempt would have probably killed him.
“To all of you who support assisting others, pluralism, and tolerance… those who are attempting to succeed, as well as all we hold dear. It is God who will defeat us. Donald Trump will prevail over all of them, including gays and non-white people, according to Carville. And that’s just where we are in this brief theological drama that we’re participating in.”
Carville issued a warning in June, stating that the US will “slide toward a theocracy” if Trump wins reelection and takes Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s position on the Supreme Court.
Carville declared, “It’s game, set, match if Trump wins and he selects a successor for Sotomayor.” “The Constitution no longer exists. Freedom of religion no longer exists.”
