U.S. District Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles recently ordered Virginia to reinstate over 1,600 individuals who had been removed from its voter rolls for marking themselves as noncitizens. The Department of Justice, led by Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke, argued that Virginia’s actions violated the National Voter Registration Act’s provision against systematic voter roll maintenance close to a federal election. Judge Giles agreed, ruling that Virginia’s removal process lacked individualized assessments, leading to a court order halting the program and restoring these individuals’ registration.
This ruling has sparked sharp criticism from Virginia’s conservative leaders. They argue that the federal government’s actions in this case represent an overreach, potentially undermining state-level authority over election management. In particular, Virginia’s Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears spoke out, questioning the fairness of including individuals on voter rolls who had confirmed their noncitizen status, and she emphasized the importance of upholding voting integrity. Governor Glenn Youngkin, in response, has committed to seeking an injunction against the ruling and, if necessary, escalating the case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears unleashed on the ruling in a statement to Fox News: “There are over 1,500 people the judge insanely, incredulously said, ‘Virginia, you must put these people back on the voting rolls.’ People who told us themselves, checked the box, ‘we are not citizens of the United States and therefore not eligible to vote.’ The Constitution says, ‘if you are not eligible to vote because you’re not a citizen, then you’re not eligible to vote.’ I’m trying to find the words to make it any simpler than that. Apparently, that’s controversial. You just cannot make this stuff up.”
This ruling is yet another example of the left’s unyielding war on our election integrity by means of noncitizen voters. By ignoring the constitutional voting standards essential to fair elections, Judge Giles has opened the door to mass corruption of our democratic process via the illegal migrants pouring across our borders. How many countless noncitizen votes will be cast for Kamala, ensuring our country’s impending demise? Only time will tell.
