Right before a key vote that helped shut down the government, Ossoff hired a new senior counsel named Katie Shepherd. She’s not just any lawyer — she’s a long-time supporter of open borders and giving taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens.
Let’s break this down. Ossoff, a Democrat, brought Shepherd onto his team at the exact same time his party was working to shut down the federal government. Why? To push for free health care for people who are in this country illegally. Don’t take my word for it — even Democrat Congressman Ro Khanna admitted that giving illegal aliens health care was one of the main reasons behind the shutdown.
This is a slap in the face to every American veteran, every taxpayer, and every law-abiding citizen. We’ve got homeless veterans sleeping on the streets. We have families struggling to afford health care and basic needs. And yet, Democrats like Ossoff are fighting tooth and nail to hand out free benefits to people who break our laws just by crossing the border.
Now let’s talk about Katie Shepherd. She used to work for the American Immigration Council, a group that pushes for open borders and less enforcement. Before that, she worked in the Biden-era Department of Homeland Security, at an office that focused more on protecting illegal immigrants than protecting the American people. President Trump’s team removed her from that role back in 2020, and for good reason. She was part of the swamp that cared more about feelings than facts, more about “community services” than national security.
Shepherd has also written openly about ending immigration detention entirely. That’s right — she wants to let illegal aliens roam free while they wait for their court hearings. Her solution? Let community organizations — funded with your tax dollars — take care of them instead of keeping them in secure facilities. She calls it “community-based case management.” That’s just a fancy way of saying, “Let them go and hope they show up later.”
This is dangerous thinking. As a veteran, I know what happens when you let your guard down. You don’t send soldiers into battle with their backs turned, and you don’t run a country with open borders and no consequences. Detention exists for a reason — to keep track of who is here and to make sure our laws are followed. Letting people go free and hoping they come back is not a strategy. It’s surrender.
Shepherd has even fought against Trump’s asylum rules, calling them “harsh.” But those rules were put in place to stop abuse and protect our country. We’re not against legal immigration — we’re against people abusing the system and cutting the line. And clearly, she’s not on the side of law and order.
Americans should be furious that someone with this track record now has the ear of a sitting U.S. Senator. Ossoff didn’t just hire a lawyer — he hired a political activist with a mission to weaken our borders and give away more of our hard-earned money to people who aren’t even supposed to be here.
