A man named Anthony Labrador-Sierra tricked an entire town into thinking he was a 16-year-old boy. But he was really a 24-year-old illegal migrant who had a child and a secret past. This happened in Perrysburg, Ohio, a quiet town that never thought something like this could happen.
Anthony showed up in Perrysburg in late 2023. He claimed to be a homeless teenager from another country and said he was a victim of human trafficking. People in the town wanted to help him. The local school accepted him, and a kind couple, Kathy and Brad Mefferd, took him into their home. They even became his legal guardians.
The school followed federal law, which says they must enroll unaccompanied minors right away, even without full paperwork. Anthony gave them a birth certificate that said he was born in 2007. But that was a lie. He was really born in 1999. He changed his age to get into school and get support as a minor.
