Obama Now Officially Running The Show

In the past few weeks, Barack Obama has been quite busy. Hours have passed since Joe Biden and Donald Trump’s disastrous June 27 debate. In an attempt to arrange a speedy Biden departure, the former Democratic president was manning the phones.

That was not going to happen. When Biden saw that Trump was just three points behind him in the national polls, he began to fear Obama, Pelosi, and the entire group of establishment Democrats. With four months remaining until election day, Biden thought he had time to heal.

That was not the appropriate time to extend an offer to him. They abruptly removed Biden from the ticket and replaced him with a vice president who has the lowest popularity rating in history.

Since then, Kamala Harris has changed. She is no longer the awkward, clumsy target of a political joke. She is the country’s rescuer, girding her loins to take on Donald Trump, the Evil One.

However, the media’s portrayal of her as a world-beater renders it meaningless. As a candidate, she remains a catastrophe. Barack Obama has made the decision to lead the Harris campaign rather than remain in the background.

Washington Post:

“People briefed on the campaign shifts said that “presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris hired a battery of new senior advisers to her campaign this week, moving swiftly to replace lifetime supporters of President Biden with Democratic campaign veterans, including multiple leaders of Barack Obama’s presidential bids.”

“David Plouffe, who served as Obama’s principal strategist during both of his presidential campaigns, has become Harris’ senior advisor for strategy and the electoral college-winning states.” Harris has been working with Obama’s deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, in recent months. Cutter is the new senior advisor for strategic messaging. Mitch Stewart, the mastermind behind both of Obama’s grassroots organizing campaigns, will take on the role of senior advisor for battleground states. David Binder, a former Harris employee and leader of Obama’s public opinion research team, will assume a more prominent role in the Harris campaign’s opinion research unit.”

Obama is not being very subtle, is he? Obama has a variety of motivations, but degrading Joe Biden is undoubtedly one of them. Biden recognized Obama as a competitor for his 2008 presidential campaign as soon as he entered the Senate in 2006, which is when their rivalry started. Obama took exception to Biden’s smugness and corrected him during the 2008 campaign.

The Obama veterans who support Harris are not policy experts. They are pragmatic politicians who will strengthen Harris’ base of support and provide seasoned labor for the task of constructing a nationwide campaign.

The most significant new hire for Harris is David Plouffe. Plouffe can assist Harris in swing states because of his extensive understanding of Democratic politics and lawmakers. Stephanie Cutter has been manipulating the messaging of both Biden and Obama. Having participated in four previous presidential elections, she will bring expertise to a campaign that many observers felt lacked a clear platform.

“We anticipate Harris’s new organization will address the split leadership of the Biden campaign.” According to aides, the campaign staff in Wilmington reported to Biden’s inner circle in Washington, which occasionally hampered decision-making. As it approaches Election Day, which is less than 100 days away, the Delaware team will suddenly have a much larger top team.”

Obama will remain largely invisible. However, the Harris campaign. He will help Harris navigate the Democratic seas by easing her way with many Democrats, who still view her as a fumbling fool. He will have a say in the most significant non-strategic choices.

As the election draws nearer, Obama will travel and, most likely, make many appearances alongside her in states that are considered battlegrounds. The former president is still able to gather large crowds, and his involvement in the campaign allows Democratic donors to give more money.

It is unclear if this will be sufficient for Harris to win.
