Liz Cheney Going To Jail? Maybe So…

Trump has called for the imprisonment of former Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney (R) and other members of the disbanded January 6 Committee.

This week, a report from the House GOP claimed that on January 6, 2021, Trump’s driver “refuted” Cassidy Hutchinson’s claim that Trump tried to grab the steering wheel to drive the SUV to the U.S. Capitol after his address and charged at his head of security.

On Trump’s Truth Social platform, Just the News CEO John Solomon brought attention to the specific finding that Cheney, who was vice chairwoman of the Jan. 6 Committee, interviewed the driver herself and omitted that denial from the panel’s final report.

“The whole Unselect Committee, including her, ought to go to jail!” In an article for Truth Social, Trump yelled out. Under the leadership of Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), the House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight, he proceeded to distribute links to many stories pertaining to the disclosures.

Using a snapshot of Trump’s post on Truth Social and allusions to the 2020 election meddling charges he is facing, Cheney reacted to Trump on X, continuing her recent statements that she is willing to run for president in 2024 if necessary to prevent Trump from winning.

“Donald, you are aware that these are falsehoods, which she corrected. For months, you have had access to the transcripts of the grand jury and the J6. Everyone from your vice president, White House counsel, advisers, campaign and Department of Justice officials, etc., will be testifying against you in your 1/6 trial, so you’re attempting to stop it. The truth makes you nervous, and rightfully so.”

“There are four criminal proceedings against Trump, two of them relate to the Capitol breach on January 6 and the 2020 election, and he is also the subject of civil lawsuits. He claims that the prosecution is on a “witch hunt” because they are politically motivated and have essentially denied any wrongdoing.”

Another lawmaker who disagreed with the House Republicans’ conclusions was Bennie Thompson (D-MS), who presided over the January 6 Committee.

He made a statement claiming that all the evidence points to “Trump wanting to join his violent group as it marched on the Capitol, and he was angry when his security detail told him he could not go.” He went on to say that “the Select Committee’s final report took into account the testimony of all witnesses.”

During an interview with Fox News, Trump administration aide Kash Patel demanded “some real congressional action” in response to Cheney’s comments.

He mentioned that “somebody should subpoena her to ask her what other information of innocence she withheld,” referring to the fact that Liz Cheney attempted to conceal what was essentially the insurrection exoneration of Donald Trump.
