Liberals Melt Down Over Musk Twitter Deal–UK Government Issues Threat

It’s official. Elon Musk owns Twitter. This surprising turn of events is the result of weeks and months of criticism and speculation. After Musk purchased the social media giant, he posted a statement promising to improve the service, protect free speech, and eliminate the spambots.

Naturally, liberals freaked out that their woke paradise (and platform of censorship) is gone.

Actress Jameela Jamil, who is an outspoken leftist and LGBT advocate, reacted by claiming she was done with the platform for good.

“Ah he got twitter. I would like this to be my what lies here as my last tweet,” the “Good Place” actress shared with her one million followers…

Actor Rob Reiner wrote, “Now that Elon Musk is buying Twitter, the question for all of us is: Will he allow a Criminal who used this platform to lie and spread disinformation to try to overthrow the US Government to return and continue his Criminal activity? And if he does, how do we combat it?” [Source: Daily Wire]

Other leftists deleted their accounts out of rage. It’s amazing how many people suddenly hate Twitter because its new owner promised transparency and free speech. But it’s not just liberals who are scared of what Twitter can become. Entire governments fear Twitter will now allow real, free speech. And the United Kingdom has issued a threat to Elon.

Authorities in the United Kingdom are demanding that Twitter follows the country’s censorship laws when it comes under the control of its new owner, Elon Musk…

“Regardless of ownership, all social media platforms must be responsible,” The Times reports a spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson as saying regarding the purchase.

“That includes protecting users from harm on their sites,” the spokesman continued. “It is too early to say what — if any — changes will be made to how Twitter operates.” [Source: Breitbart]

That’s just code for saying they don’t want people in the UK to freely speak their mind on Twitter. Britain has an ugly history of silencing anyone whose speech is deemed “hurtful.” Its government is even expanding censorship with the “Online Harms Bill” which will require social networks to take down content they deem “legal but harmful.”

It’s an unthinkable law in the United States. But American leftists created de facto censorship through social media giants like Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook. With Musk buying Twitter and implementing free speech policies, other social networks will be forced to follow suit. Thanks to the extremely competitive nature of social media, if one network gains an upper hand (with a popular feature) all the others will be quick to adopt their own version.

If Musk truly rewrites Twitter’s policies to allow free speech, users will flock to the site eager to enjoy this God-given freedom. What are other social networks going to do? Clamp down on free speech harder? Of course, not.

The UK and other tyrants fear an online environment like we had just a decade ago, where anyone can speak their mind.

But it’s going to happen whether they want it or not.
