Self-described “Democratic socialist” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is rarely in the news for good things. The leftist has a reputation for saying and doing the most idiotic things, even for a politician. It seems she knows nothing about our government works, less still our economy. And when people call out her stupidity, she responds in a way that only makes her look worse.
That certainly was the case when she was outed for vacationing in Florida. The far-left Democrat was one of many in her party that criticized Republican-led states for not pushing harsh COVID restrictions. She bashed leaders like Gov. Ron DeSantis for not requiring masks or other rules. Yet over the holidays, she fled mandate-driven New York and was seen partying, maskless, in Miami.
What do you call that? Oh, right, hypocrisy.
Her defense was ridiculous, claiming her critics were just bitter because they couldn’t date her. Uh… right. Now it seems like she might be facing some form of retribution because she’s tested positive for COVID.

While AOC encourages others to follow the CDC guidance, the congresswoman decidedly chose to ignore it over the New Year’s holiday weekend. In a post on December 9, the CDC advised folks to “[w]ear a mask that covers your nose and mouth to help protect yourself and others” and to stay “6 feet apart from others who don’t live with you.” Ocasio-Cortez was pictured hugging and kissing Porter, who does not live with her. It’s no secret that the latest strain of the virus is more contagious than others. Thankfully, it appears to be less severe, with fewer hospitalizations and deaths. Chances are, over-the-top restrictions like lockdowns and masks will do nothing to stop the spread of this disease, but we could be seen reaching a drop in cases, as herd immunity kicks in.
Worth noting is how those who pushed the most extreme COVID “Kool-Aid” were no better off than others. People who wore masks hid in their homes and criticized others got sick the same as anyone else. But in the case of AOC, she is COVID positive just after ignoring her own rules and criticizing those who confronted her.
I’d like to say this will teach her a lesson, one she should have learned as a child. But we know better. AOC is an entitled, self-absorbed Democrat. She believes her own hype and puts her crooked ideology over common sense and the good of the country. It is unlikely that she’ll apologize for what she’s said and admit she was wrong.
Despite all this, we all should wish her a speedy recovery and an even speedier exit from Congress.
