Kamala’s Memoir Sparks Democratic Party Chaos

Kamala Harris just released a new book, and it’s making waves—but not in the way she hoped. The book, titled “107 Days,” is supposed to explain her short run for president in 2024. Instead, it’s causing anger and confusion within her own party. As a veteran, I’ve seen what happens when leaders throw their team under the bus. That’s exactly what Harris seems to be doing here.

Harris used this memoir to air her frustrations. She points fingers and blames others for her campaign’s failure. Instead of taking full responsibility, she goes after people in her own party—people who worked hard to support her. That’s not leadership. In the military, we’re taught that a leader owns the mission. Win or lose, you stand by your team. You don’t write a book months later to settle scores.

The Democrats are clearly caught off guard. Over 15 party operatives talked to reporters, and most of them are scratching their heads. Some are just angry. They don’t understand what Harris is trying to do. Is she done with politics? Is she trying to run again? Either way, her timing and tactics are a mess. As one Democrat put it, “If there’s a political strategy here, it’s a bad one.”

She even took shots at Pete Buttigieg, saying it would have been too risky to have a ticket with a Black woman married to a Jewish man and a gay man as her running mate. That didn’t sit well with Buttigieg—or with a lot of Democrats. It sounds like Harris is trying to blame identity politics for her failure, rather than her own inability to connect with working-class Americans.

She also went after Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, saying he seemed too ambitious to trust. She even claimed he was already picking out art for the vice president’s residence before the campaign was over. That’s petty. And it’s not a good look when your own side says it’s “ridiculous.”

The biggest problem, though, is how Harris talks about Joe Biden. On one hand, she calls him “reckless” for running again despite his age. On the other, she defends him and says he had command of the issues. You can’t have it both ways. If she really thought he wasn’t fit to run, she should’ve said something. Instead, she waited until after the loss and then put it in a book. That’s not courage—it’s cleanup.

Now, to be clear, I don’t have much sympathy for the Democratic Party’s whining. They backed Harris. They pushed identity politics and ignored everyday Americans. They got burned, and now they’re trying to distance themselves. But Harris isn’t helping herself either. Instead of showing strength or humility, she’s showing bitterness. That’s not going to win back voters, especially the ones who felt left behind in 2024.

One Democrat said it best: this book doesn’t show why she lost. It shows she still doesn’t get it. She didn’t lose because of drapes or campaign speed. She lost because she couldn’t connect with regular people. The kind of folks who work hard, love their country, and don’t care about who’s offended this week. People like that want leaders who talk straight and take action—not ones who write tell-alls to blame their teammates.

In the end, “107 Days” reads more like a farewell than a comeback. Whether Harris realizes it or not, she’s losing support fast. If she wanted to remind America why she mattered, she missed the mark. If she wanted to torch bridges, she lit a wildfire.

From where I stand, this book shows why Harris was never ready to lead. When times get tough, true leaders don’t point fingers—they lead from the front. And Harris? She’s still stuck in the rear, writing about what went wrong instead of owning up to it.
