It must feel great for Republican lawmakers knowing that Joe Biden’s own party doesn’t even support his radical spending agenda. They can sit back, vote ‘no’, and watch as the Democrats implode over the $3.5 trillion left-wing wish list that will do nothing to correct rising inflation rates and sky-high consumer prices.
Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat, is arguably the most important man in Washington D.C. right now. His vote in either direction will either ensure Joe Biden’s political future or tank his entire chances of reelection (if they weren’t already tanked before.)
The final death knell to Biden’s radical spending agenda was dealt by Manchin this week when the West Virginia moderate released a personal statement calling the spending measure the “definition of insanity.”

His words pretty much sum up the consensus surrounding Biden’s spending bill. Despite its support with radical, far-left, and socialist lawmakers, the American people wish to maintain the last remaining semblance of normalcy while they still can. To them, that means gas prices they can afford and grocery prices that won’t bankrupt their family. If passed, this bill will add to an already growing debt which was already heavily inflated due to coronavirus relief spending.
As Manchin said in his statement, the United States has spent $5.4 trillion since last march. Adding another $3.5 trillion means our debt becomes essentially unmanageable, creating endless fiscal calamities passed directly to the American taxpayer.
“At some point, all of us, regardless of party must ask the simple question – how much is enough?” Manchin asked.
Democrats have been desperately trying to pass the $3.5 trillion bill, which the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget has estimated could actually cost over $5 trillion, through reconciliation, meaning they would only need a simple majority of 51 votes in the Senate to pass it.
“Suggesting that spending trillions more will not have an impact on inflation ignores the everyday reality that America’s families continue pay an unavoidable inflation tax,” Manchin added
Manchin concluded, “If there is one final lesson that will continue to guide me in this difficult debate ahead, it is this: America is a great nation but great nations throughout history have been weakened by careless spending and bad policies.
On Wednesday, Manchin told a reporter that if Democrats’ reconciliation bill does not include the Hyde Amendment, it would be “dead on arrival” in the Senate.
Sen. Manchin proves it is possible to put the needs of the American people over party politics. It will take many more brave Democrats – and even some Republicans – to follow his lead in order to correct the wrongs of D.C. partisanship.
It appears that Biden’s spending bill is DOA as it stands, but let’s see what kind of tricks Chuck and Nancy plan to utilize to ensure their political futures.
