Democrats had plenty of reasons to hate Elon Musk. The man, although from South Africa, is considered wealthy, white, and privileged by the left. In recent months, he’s become an outspoken champion for free speech—something liberals seem to be allergic to. And he spent $44 billion on buying Twitter, making sure all social media sites will soon protect the First Amendment.
But that’s all just the tip of the iceberg. Musk appeared for an interview on the Babylon Bee, a conservative Christian satire website. He is quick to criticize Joe Biden and other “notable” Democrats. And he’s great at mocking the left, being a master at trolling and spreading memes.
Now, he’s sure to trigger their hatred all the more, by promising to vote Republican.
Elon Musk, admitting he had voted “overwhelmingly” for Democrats in the past, has changed his mind.
Musk is registered as an independent voter; he announced the switch over video link at a tech summit in Miami, Florida, hosted by the All-In podcast.
“I have voted overwhelmingly for Democrats, historically,” Musk acknowledged. “Like I’m not sure, I might never have voted for a Republican, just to be clear. Now this election I will,” Newsweek reported. [Source: Daily Wire]
Watch the dominos begin to fall rapidly, as this news spreads. If the richest man in the world, someone well-respected, clever, and seemingly infinitely innovative jumps ship to Republicans, so will many others.
Democrats had every reason to expect Musk to stay reliably blue. He owns the largest electric vehicle company, for crying out loud. But the signs have been growing that he was getting fed up with the radical direction Democrats were growing.
He criticized their socialist-leaning online for years. He’s bashed Joe Biden’s stupidity and failures. He’s vowed to protect free speech through his purchase of Twitter.
Hell, he moved to Texas, folks! Could there be any clearer signs that he was done with Democrats?
But this news will send shockwaves through the political world. What Musk might do with his influence and fortune, with elections around the corner, will have Democrats staying up at night.
Because he’s about to own one of the largest social networks in the world, the left won’t even be able to censor him.
That doesn’t mean Musk will show up at a Trump rally, any time soon. But it does mean his comments, interviews, and appearances can’t be used as endorsements for Democrats. He’ll probably stay largely neutral when it comes to his work.
But even this admission can turn many people on the fence into Republican voters.
