Despite being a tech millionaire and a potential Mars colonist, Elon Musk’s political beliefs are similar to those of the average, industrious American.
In a recent podcast interview, he clarified this to Lex Fridman, who questioned Musk about the rationale for his support of the former president, Donald Trump.
“People often interpret a supporter’s statement as ‘I completely agree with everything that person has ever done in their life, 100% of the time,’” Musk said. “That won’t be accurate about anyone.”
Musk also supported Trump for other reasons, but his first impression of Trump’s response to the assassination attempt was strong.
Musk informed Fridman that “Trump exhibited courage under fire.” He’s bleeding profusely from a gunshot wound, and he’s pumping his fists and yelling, “Fight.” I think that’s quite amazing. That’s not the kind of scenario where you can act bravely. The majority of people would have been in hiding.
Trump is “powerful and bold,” whereas Biden “had problems mounting a flight of stairs,” according to Musk.
He clarified, “Well, who would you want to handle some of the hardest individuals—other international leaders who are also quite tough?”
The billionaire told Fridman that “we want a secure border,” “safe and clean cities,” and “at least cut down the expenditure.” He also expressed support for Trump’s initiatives.
“The current rate of expenditure is leading the country towards bankruptcy.” This year, interest payments on US debt surpassed all Defense Department expenditures. He clarified, “If this trend continues, the interest will consume all federal government revenues.” If you keep going in that direction, you wind up in the same dire circumstances that Argentina faced in the past.
He went on, “I believe that we should not take American wealth for granted. “We have to live within our means, cut back on expenditures, and shrink the size of government.”
“The Rubin Report’s” Dave Rubin agrees with Musk’s viewpoint.
Rubin remarks, “Elon Musk is still fighting the good fight, as always.”
