According to RedState, the gang of undocumented immigrants came from El Paso and just crossed the porous and disorderly Southern border. After that, they traveled to New Mexico and then boarded an aircraft for California. When they arrived, they were put in touch with a Catholic organization that gets government funds to assist in caring for undocumented immigrants.
Despite his previous declarations that his state serves as a “sanctuary state,” Newsom was furious when the illegal immigrants arrived. Considering that he asserts that immigrants are an essential component of California’s economy, I pointed out how peculiar his statement was in my original article. Why all the anxiety at once?
The basis of Newsom’s abduction accusation was the theory that the concerned illegal immigrants were somehow duped and forced to board the plane bound for Sacramento. Florida’s Division of Emergency Management revealed video footage to refute that claim, showing that all passengers verbally consented to travel and signed releases before boarding the aircraft.
“According to a video acquired by the Daily Caller Media Foundation, the Florida Division of Emergency Management (DOEM) published footage that appeared to display migrants signing agreements of consent and agreeing to take a flight to California.”
“These participants gave their agreement orally and in writing, indicating that they would like to go to California. A contractor was there to make sure they arrived at the third-party NGO safely. The federal government uses and funds the particular NGO, Catholic Charities,” according to information provided to the DCNF by the Florida DOEM.
“Florida dispatched two migrant aircraft to Sacramento. This sparked criticism from Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom and a probe by the office of AG Rob Bonta, who blamed DeSantis of possibly ‘kidnapping’ the migrants.”
Illegal aliens are shown grinning, acknowledging the situation, and signing disclaimers. The DOEM also said that people on board wished to go to California, presumably due to family ties there.
Or to put it another way, there is no proof that any laws were violated. Giving volunteers a flight to another state is not against the law, and it is also not unethical. It is past time for self-declared sanctuary jurisdictions to follow through on their words. If they believe that illegal immigration is a good thing, then they should be prepared to care for those who do so.
