Border patrol agents who have had to deal with the chaotic influx of illegal immigrants coming into the U.S. are apparently very angry with the Biden-Harris administration and have threatened to leave in large numbers until there is a new administration led by Democrats.
“I’m not going to do this again…” The agent told the New York Post, “Four years of hell.”
“A lot of guys who can retire will do so. If Trump wins, they will stay.”
Because of the policies of the Biden-Harris government, the agency has already had a lot of staff leave and a sharp drop in morale. As of October 2020, more than 4,000 Border Patrol agents had left, bringing the total number of workers down to about 19,000.
Because of the drop in morale, the agency even hired a suicidologist to help agents who are severely unhappy and overworked and have admitted to having suicidal thoughts.
A suicidologist is someone who studies why people commit suicide and how it can be prevented.
In 2022, 15 Border Patrol agents killed themselves, which was a record high.
According to former Yuma Border Patrol Chief Chris Clem, “morale has never been lower in the Border Patrol.”
Clem went on, “Kamala Harris has been terrible for morale for both law enforcement across the country and our border security staff.”
Aside from that, the Border Patrol Union, which has 16,000 members, recently came out and “strongly” backed Donald Trump for president.
For the 16,000 men and women who are part of the National Border Patrol Council, the announcement said, “We strongly support and endorse Donald J. Trump for President of the United States.”
Even though Harris increased the incentives it offers to hire agents by $20,000, the number of agents leaving has not stopped.
Several agents who didn’t want to be named because they were afraid of retaliation told the Post that they thought Harris would make the problems at the border worse and leave the agency with even fewer employees than it already has.
