The left is in a pickle. For years, the United States has opposed the oppressive communist regime in Cuba. We’ve urged the nation to change its ways by refusing to do business with it. American leaders of all stripes have condemned Cuban leaders for their ongoing denial of their citizens’ basic human rights.
And today, with Cubans protesting the streets, waving U.S. flags, demanding freedom—it’s a prime moment for Joe Biden and other leaders in D.C. to show these people support.
Except, today’s Democratic Party is on the side of the oppressors.
Democrats are dancing around how to respond to the historic protests in Cuba. But one group isn’t shying away from showing their true colors. As the corrupt Cuban regime arrests thousands, denying them their rights, BLM slammed the United States and praised Cuba’s communist regime.
“Black Lives Matter condemns the U.S. federal government’s inhumane treatment of Cubans, and urges it to immediately lift the economic embargo…
“Cuba has historically demonstrated solidarity with oppressed peoples of African descent, from protecting black revolutionaries like Assata Shakur,” the group said of one of the FBI’s most wanted terrorists. [Source: Daily Wire]
Yes, you read that right. Black Lives Matter, a group praised by Democrats and celebrated by the media, blamed America for Cuba’s problems. They also celebrated Cuba’s support for “oppressed peoples,” naming a notorious terrorist. BLM even said “at the heart” of Cuba’s problems is the U.S. embargo. Really?
Cuba has been run by a cruel, evil communist dictatorship for decades. At the “heart” of its problems are heartless communists who treat their people like literal slaves. America’s embargo has nothing to do with Cubans’ fight for freedom—except that it simply underscores America’s determination to reject communism.
People were not kind to BLM’s bogus and dishonest statement.
Carlos Curbelo: “Deplorable this organization has chosen to stand with the oppressive dictators who have murdered and enslaved innocent Cubans of all colors since 1959…”
Giancarlo Sopo: “Disgusting! Despite the Cuban dictatorship’s murdering and beating of protestors (many of them Black), BLM’s statement on Cuba….condemns the US, praises the Castro regime, and makes no mention of the atrocities being committed by the dictatorship.”

Most people with half a brain were able to see how utterly stupid BLM was to stand in solidarity with a government guilty of crimes against their own people. What’s shocking is how many on the left continue to support this radical group and refuse to call them out for these kinds of statements.
Black Lives Matter fundraises with the Democratic Party. It uses the same online system, ActBlue, that is maintained and run by the DNC. When will the leaders of the party disown BLM for this statement? Will anyone on the left condemn a group that is supporting a regime that has embraced slavery, oppression, and murder?
Will Joe Biden disown this radical hate group?
