The event took place on Sunday in Burnsville, North Carolina, at a parking lot where help for storm victims was being set up.
From different views, the video shows that the all-black chopper seemed to circle the area before hovering low over the lot and throwing tents and other volunteers’ loose items around.
Although the helicopter was “unmarked,” some people talked about plots during and after the event. They said that strange black SUVs showed up and then vanished less than an hour before the helicopter arrived.
The North Carolina National Guard now says that the event was caused by its own UH-60 Black Hawk and crew.
The North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) wrote on Facebook Tuesday evening, “The NCNG is aware of the incident involving a Black Hawk helicopter during a delivery of generators in western North Carolina.”
A group of people in the area set up a local distribution, but while the plane was trying to land, rotor wash blew away things from it.
“The crew quickly figured out what was going on, decided not to land for safety reasons, and left the area.”
People behind the rotor wash won’t be able to fly until the National Guard says it’s okay.
“This event is being looked into right now, and the crew has been stopped until the review is over,” the NCNG wrote.
“The NCNG is working with the named local citizen group to figure out how bad the damage from the rotor wash is.”
It’s not clear how much damage the rotor wash did, but the video shows tents, papers, and other things being thrown around the parking lot by the low chopper. Millions of people have watched videos of the helicopter’s annoying flight since Sunday.
The state force wrote, “Safety is the NCNG’s number one concern, especially with the high number of air operations going across the region right now.”
