Biden Under Fire For Joking About What’s Destroying America

President Joe Biden made jokes about the border problem in response to news that migrant arrests had decreased after the repeal of Title 42.

But things are not always as they appear.

How did Biden respond?

Biden responded to questions from the media while enjoying an afternoon bike ride at Delaware’s Gordons Pond State Park.

He made a joke about the border problem, “Much better than all of you expected.”

In a similar manner, Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of homeland security, claimed this week that border crossings “are significantly lower than what they were before the end of Title 42.” Before Title 42 was repealed last week, there had been on average over 10,000 migrant arrests per day.

What is the whole picture, though?

One may believe that the border situation is resolved based on the way Biden and Mayorkas converse. But nothing could be farther from the truth than that.

Bill Melugin, a Fox News journalist, cites a number of factors as to why migrant arrests decreased right away after Title 42 was repealed. Mexican officials tightened their enforcement, Texas authorities stopped people from crossing the border illegally, and more people started entering the country via ports of entry out of concern that doing so would prevent them from entering the country lawfully in the future.

However, according to Melugin’s sources at Customs and Border Protection, “they are not anticipating this lull to last.”

What could possibly be worse? The government predicts that there may soon be a record-breaking spike. According to CBS News:

“Despite the recent decline, officials expect arrests to increase to between 12,000 and 14,000 per day, according to Matthew Hudak, deputy head of the Border Patrol, in a court document filed this week. Hudak noted that intelligence assessments failed to immediately indicate a ‘singular surge’ of 18,000 mostly Haitian migrants near Del Rio, Texas, in Sept. 2021. Officials cannot safely predict how many would cross.”

In the meanwhile, to reduce congestion in migrant centers, immigration officials are swiftly freeing migrants after screening them. This is because they are not permitted to “parole” migrants without first scheduling a court date.

Additionally, the Washington Examiner noted that due to immigration court backlogs, migrants are assigned court dates years in the future, sometimes even up to 10 years.
