According to a new YouGov/CBS News survey, 50% of independent voters think House Republicans need to remove President Biden from office.
Even though the House GOP just started looking into impeaching the president this past week, 50% of independent voters presently think the House Republicans need to do more than just look into impeaching the president.
The remaining 50% of independent voters are still not sure that Republicans should try to remove Joe Biden from office.
Eighty-one percent of Republicans want the president to be removed from office, while 19 percent don’t. Twelve percent of Democrats are in favor of impeachment. 88 percent of them are not.
47 percent of Americans accept the idea of impeachment as a whole. 53 percent are against impeachment.
Between September 12 and 15, 2023, 4,002 people took part in the poll, which had a margin of error of +/- 2.1%.
Reuters has done polls in the past that showed 41 percent of people back an impeachment probe, while 35 percent are against it. Two-fourths of them don’t know.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) started the investigation because of four different pieces of evidence:
- The House investigators discovered that Joe Biden had misled them about his role in the family company.
- Bank records show that a lot of money was sent to members of the Biden family by means of “shell” companies.
- A file from an FBI informant says that a Ukrainian energy boss tried to pay Joe Biden.
- In the middle of a Justice Department investigation into his son’s taxes, Joe Biden “granted special treatment” to Hunter Biden.
“When considered collectively, these accusations depict an image of corruption,” McCarthy stated this week. “These are accusations of power abuse, blocking progress, and corruption. They deserve the House of Representatives to look into them further.”
Articles of impeachment may be put to a vote by the entire House following the impeachment investigation. If at least 218 people in the House voted yes, the articles would be sent to the Senate, which would have to hold a hearing and listen to the proof.
Democrats say that Republicans have nothing against Joe Biden that they can prove. Breitbart News said that the White House, Democrats, and media outlets that work with them spread outright lies by saying that there is “no evidence” as well as “no direct evidence” to back an investigation into Joe Biden. They additionally used the term “without evidence” to talk about the claims made by Republicans that led to the investigation.
“That argument was not part of the campaign. It came straight from the taxpayer-funded White House lawyer to the media,” McCarthy informed Breitbart News this week. “Think about how scared they must be that they won’t be able to testify when the White House counsel tells them to investigate Republicans, there’s nothing here.”
The House Oversight Committee said that obtaining Hunter and James Biden’s private and commercial bank records and interviewing more Biden acquaintances would be the next stage in the impeachment investigation.
On Fox News this week, McCarthy stated, “Hunter Biden will be called to testify.”
