According to Axios, President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign said on Tuesday that it had raised $42 million in January, outpacing both the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the previous campaign of Donald Trump.
After disclosing its contributions over the past month, Biden’s reelection campaign currently has $130 million. RNC cash on hand at the end of 2023 was $8 million, based on reports with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). According to Axios, the Trump campaign had $33 million in cash on hand. However, neither the RNC nor the presidential campaign have disclosed their January financial results.
According to CNBC News, Trump’s presidential campaign received $19 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, of which $18 million came from associated fundraising organizations that support the former president. According to the publication, Trump’s legal expenses amounted to at least $60,000 during those three months.
According to Axios, the former president’s fundraising coalition has paid more than $50 million in legal fees over the last 12 months.
According to Biden’s statistics, incumbents are better at raising money. Politico revealed that before the 2020 election, then-President Trump had amassed over $60 million in cash and had $200 million in his fundraising committees.
Even with the enormous amount of money raised, Biden still lags behind Trump in fictitious matches. According to a January Redfield & Wilton Strategies study, Trump is leading the 81-year-old by as much as 11 points in a number of swing states, including Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida.
The topic of discussion surrounding the 2024 presidential race has shifted to President Biden’s suitability for office in the wake of a damning special counsel report exposing his deteriorating memory. A Feb. 6 NBC survey found that 76% of Americans are concerned about Biden’s health in advance of the 2024 race.
According to Axios, the Biden team is apparently counting on March’s State of the Union speech to act as a campaign reset in the midst of worries.
According to a source close to Biden, “everyone around him is fully aware—very aware—of the need to jack this campaign up,” Axios said. “The president needs to be outspoken, visible, and have a strong voice in order to counteract the bad effects of the special counsel’s report, which disparaged Biden’s age.”
