After Manchin Refuses to Nuke Filibuster, Schumer Hits Brakes of Quick Gun Vote

As usual, a tragedy hits our nation, and Democrats are on their soapboxes. The country hasn’t had time to mourn, before liberals use a horrible event to push their politics. In the wake of the mass shooting in Uvalde, TX, Democrats across the country demanded gun control. Some, like bloated whale Michael Moore, called for a “repeal” of the Second Amendment.

Senate Democrats were quick to call for a vote on gun control. Schumer was pushing, it seems, to use the emotions of the shooting to get a radical gun bill through. But he had a problem, and it wasn’t coming from Republicans.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on Tuesday lamented the lack of Senate support for tougher gun laws following a mass shooting in Texas hours earlier but rejected the notion of eliminating the filibuster for the purpose of passing such a bill…

“The filibuster is the only thing that prevents us from total insanity. Total insanity,” he said. [Source: The Hill]

Without Manchin’s support, Democrats will not be able to bypass Republicans and force through a gun-snatching bill. So, Schumer suddenly reversed course.

On Wednesday Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) hit the brakes on the idea of a quick gun control vote, making clear a vote on more gun restrictions will have to wait…

“Sadly,” he added, “this isn’t a case of the American people now knowing where their senators stand. They know. They know because my Republican colleagues are perfectly clear on this issue. Crystal clear.” [Source: Breitbart]

Bull crap. There is no reason Congress can’t pass something soon, to protect schools and other places vulnerable to mass shootings. All it would take is Democrats working with Republicans to pass a bill that focuses on the real problems, not their blanket “gun control” agenda.

But Schumer has no intentions of working with Republicans. He’d rather exploit a tragedy to get rid of the filibuster, so power-hunger Democrats had no check on their ambitions.

Schumer is sacrificing the well-being of Americans over politics. I thought this was the party that wanted gun control, in order to help Americans? But when Schumer has a chance at passing something that could protect schools and defend Americans—he sits on it. All to deprive Republicans of a win going into the midterms.

It seems Democrats don’t really care about helping Americans at all. Only helping themselves to more power and privilege. Manchin said he was all for something. Republicans could easily support a bill if they were brought to the table.

But Schumer and his cult of Democrats refuse. Leaving all of us in danger.
